I would do a faux genealogy trip to Spain and Portugal. I say faux in the sense that i have yet to research my entire family background so these next few statements are just for fun. I think my last name originated near the Minho River, which borders Spain and Portugal. In Spanish the river is called Miño, my last name is Miñoso. Coincidence? I think not! :-) anyways there are several historic cities along the river banks i would explore those. Would definitely try to find a city with records of people departing to the Americas and then spend the rest of the weekend checking out wineries in the region ( I heard Napa valley ain't got nothing on them). :-) Of course, just before departing i would find the next clue that would spark part 2: African genealogy trip.
