This data-driven site, produced in Mario Starks' role as web application developer for Tribune's OrlandoSentinel.com, is a compilation of editorial content produced by the Orlando Sentinel throughout the Orlando Magic's history. Magic fans and site visitors are provided with the functionality of browsing and searching their favorite Magic moments. Shortly after it's launch, this site was profiled on NBA.com's Blog.
The OrlandoSentinel.com crime map is a highly engaging, data-driven site updated weekly, compiling crime reports received by various police agencies in the municipal area. The site features browsable and searchable functionality. In addition to it's PHP/MySQL backend, this site utilizes the Google Map API extensively to provide real-time graphical illustration of crimes reported in a particular area.
EverythingOrlando.com (a product of Tribune's Orlando Sentinel), a robust yellow-pages-like listings application, was built on-top of the Drupal CMS platform and extensively customized using custom PHP/MySQL. Mario Starks supported this online product as the lead web application developer while working alongside a team of product managers and multimedia producers to test, deploy and market.
This data-driven site, produced in Mario Starks' role as web application developer for Tribune's OrlandoSentinel.com, is a compilation of state-provided high school data (consisting of competency scores in various categories). Working alongside the Orlando Sentinel editorial team of reporters, Mario developed an application that would allow users to rate their area high-schools based on user-selected criteria.
