Rise of the Creative Economy

Ever heard of the term Creative Economy? Personally, I never had until I read an article entitled “Crafting markets for creative entrepreneurs.” Sounds interesting, right? I thought so too, so naturally I begin to read the article to see what it was about.   The article talks about an economy that consists of Maine workers who are pursuing creative endeavors --- design firms, technology innovators, potters, artists and etc.

The National Underground Spokenword Poetry Awards

The National Underground Spokenword Poetry Awards (NUSPA) -pronounced new-spa - has been coined “The Grammys for Spokenword.”

So, when my best friend found out his poetry collaboration book was nominated for a NUSPA, he actually called me (we always text, blame technology for diluting the essence of interpersonal relationships) to give me the good news.  And of course, I was elated.

The Tale of Tails: An Inspiration For All

Much to the anticipation of the African-American film world, the movie “Red Tails” will be released this coming Friday, January 20, 2012.   

I, myself, not being as big a movie buff as I once was, have not been able to miss the countless endorsements enticing consumers to sweep the box office on Friday.   From social media to public commentary, “Red Tails” has been in my visual forefront even before it has graced the big screen.

Google - An Employee's Playground

According to CNN.com, Google is ranked #4 out of America’s 100 Best Places to Work.  Why, might you ask.  Well...Google let’s it’s workers play.

Yes, I said it. Workers at Google have fun going to work.  They get free food at any of the cafeterias at Google headquarters, have access to a climbing wall, and to top it all off, are able to get laundry done for free at work.  Yes, that’s free laundry at work (every American employee’s dream).
