Skillologist Spotlight: Nicholas Mayne - Web Developer & Founder of DancehallAudio.com

This week, Skillology features Nicholas Mayne (pictured), an online media producer and an ambassador of dancehall reggae music culture. Nick is currently based in San Francisco, having recently relocated from South Florida.

Mr. Nicholas Mayne, thank you for taking the time to share some personal insights with the Skillology family.

To kick things off, please describe yourself to fellow Skillologists in less than 140 characters:

Entrepreneur by heart living in an irrational world.

Where do you live and how did you end up there?

Currently in San Francisco for the entrepreneural culture, but might change in the near future.

What's your occupation?

Internet entrepreneur.

What inspired you to get into your current line of work? And do you like it?

You only have one life to live.  Live it the way that makes you most happy, not what society dictates to you. I like it for the most part.

What skills do you utilize on a daily basis to do what you do?

My imagination & web development.

Are there any other endeavors you'd like to begin, or are working on, that you envision pursuing and making a living from in the future?

This is a dangerous question for me.  I don't like to divide my attention. Its better to dig one deep well than several shallow ones.  None at the moment.

What people (or types of people) motivate you and why?

Entrepreneurs.

What's an interesting book, magazine, documentary , or online blog that you're reading/watching currently?

Titan: The Life of John D Rockefeller by Ron Chernow.

In just a short sentence or two, what productivity, business, or career advice would you offer someone fresh out of college (or who has no clue what to do with themselves just yet)?

Get out and stay out of debt ASAP. Get a Kindle and read the latest books related to your industry.  Make sure you have a means to organize the new information you learn in a way that makes sense.  There is unlimited information out there.   Unfortunately, the mind is finite.

Do you have a favorite quote? What is it? Who's it by?

Ain't no empire like your own empire - Nicholas Mayne

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Where is it, and why aren't you there now?

Jamaica.  Good question!

Anything else you want to add for fellow Skillologists to check out, while we're here?

A monopoly is the only business model worth pursuing. Visit my dancehall reggae music platform dancehallaudio.com and like our fan page facebook.com/dancehallaudiofan

Having visited Skillology.com, what do you think of the site as a tool and resource for other individuals like yourself?

A nice clean website that I would not mind visiting on a regular basis. I have a philosophy that reading on a white background on a computer monitor is very fatiguing to the eyes. I prefer a black background with white text. Have a great day!

Thank you Nicholas Mayne for taking the time to provide personal insights into your creative endeavors. If you have any questions for Nicholas, feel free to comment below!

Much continued success!
