Skillologist Spotlight: Diana N. Graham - Passionate Entrepreneur and Veteran

This week, Skillology features Diana N. Graham (pictured) is a multifaceted woman that continues to make achievements in life beyond the status quo.  She believes that thinking big and being active is the key to success in any endeavor that one pursues.  She is a 29 year old student of life, business woman of multiple talents, and a motivator for others to be inspired by.  Diana is an ambitious individual -- a Skillologist.

Ms. Diana Graham, thank you for taking the time to share some personal insights with the Skillology family.

To kick things off, please describe yourself to fellow Skillologists in less than 140 characters: 

A mover and shaker, catalyst of change.

Additionally: 

Educationally – graduated with Honors from Strayer University RTP Campus in 2009 with a Master’s degree in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Central University, and an Associate of Arts in General Studies with Honors from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. 
 
Military – honorably discharged from the United States Army North Carolina National Guard and was deployed in 2005 as a Battalion-level Patient Administrator during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Commander for Henry Seeman Post 2740 in Durham, NC serving as the first African America Female Commander in the history of the Post. 

Where do you live and how did you end up there?

Durham, NC. After completing my last two degrees I remained in the local area. 

What's your occupation?

 

Various – for purposes of this spotlight I would like to focus on two roles being:
 
  • President and Co-Founder of Social Elite of Benevolent Women, Inc. a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization that promotes leadership in youth and their families. 
  • Owner and CEO – Crowned for Success Global Consulting, LLC a consulting firm that focuses on Veteran Advocacy, Administration and Management, Professional Personal Shopper, Strategic Planning, and Event Management. 

What inspired you to get into your current line of work? And do you like it?

Passion and Inspiration, I love both of these entities and look forward to further expanding them to reach more populations both domestic and international. 

What skills do you utilize on a daily basis to do what you do?

 

  1. Communication
  2. Attention to Detail
  3. Strategic Planning
  4. Personal Growth Tactics
  5. Forward Movement

Are there any other endeavors you'd like to begin, or are working on, that you envision pursuing and making a living from in the future? 

The two identified above and others on my ‘Goals List’.  I always have a targeted goal in mind; check back in two years for further progress. 

What people (or types of people) motivate you and why? 

Trailblazers, professional, driven, motivated individuals grasp my attention.  They posse traits that move them into directions of greatness, which impacts many along the journey. 

What's an interesting book, magazine, documentary , or online blog that you're reading/watching currently?

 

  • 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven R. Covey
  • Steve Jobs by Walter Issacson

In just a short sentence or two, what productivity, business, or career advice would you offer someone fresh out of college (or who has no clue what to do with themselves just yet)?

Try different options until you discover your passion.  Once your passion is discovered, identifying your role in society and staking your claim becomes an easier target.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Where is it, and why aren't you there now?

No favorite, I LOVE traveling in general.  Several places on the ‘list’ to visit that will take place in the very near future. Timing is everything.
