If you're trekking along a road less traveled or challenging the status quo with new ideas like many creative entrepreneurs, you've surely encountered some obstacles that at times appear as insurmountable boulders of despair.
But there's at least one method I've found, and maybe you have too, that cures the gut-wrenching feeling of angst that is sometimes an adverse side effect of stretching ourselves to new and improved heights.
The prescription?
Giving thanks.
Now, before your eyes roll over with new age fatigue, take it easy. It's worth discussing and remembering: We can achieve all things by aligning our thoughts with gratitude.
This is especially true in moments of despair.
Giving thanks is a most powerful affirmation to rise 30,000 miles above the current situation. When one zooms out from chaos, the view from afar most always looks amazing. "What chaos?" you may even ask.
Car just broke down on your way to an interview? Mentally zoom out, fly above the horizon, and plot the next course of action. The car may have stalled, but your ignited imagination will never sputter.
While a current situation may appear immensely challenging, we simply need to remember the grand scheme of all existence; your existence - an existence which undoubtedly contains attributes in the present moment for which you can appreciate.
That's not to say that daunting situations aren't significant or that they should be taken lightly in every case, but the best counter-punch to any unexpected distraction is to first gain proper perspective.
See the big picture.
Giving thanks helps us remain resilient.
Giving thanks helps us see beyond the obstacle at hand.
Giving thanks allows us to focus with greater clarity.
Rest assured you cannot overdose on expressions of gratitude. Pop the pill (that is gratitude) and proceed along your journey with renewed perspective.
Join the discussion. How do you remain resilient when faced with obstacles?
Peace,
Doc
