OUCH! Confessions of a Slow Moment!

Image

I woke up this morning feeling good, feeling great. I saw the bright yellow sun peering through my blinds as it created stripes of shade and light. I arose from bed to continue my normal morning routine to prepare for work. I went to take my hot shower, brush my teeth, scrub my face, and put on my smell goods. I rock my natural hair, so on the days where my hair is not straightened, twisted-out, or otherwise, I wet my hair in the shower. Today was one of those days where I wet my hair, so of course I have to tame it and throw a scarf on it before heading to work. Today I wore a black headband just to keep things in place for the day.

As I proceeded out the front door, I smiled at the anticipation of a great day and the beautiful weather. However, my allergies did not seem to agree with me. I felt my nose starting to itch and my head began to throb. I needed to take something for the pain, but I did not bring any pain medication with me to work, so I tried to tough it out. I just knew it was a sinus headache because there was SO MUCH pressure around my whole head. I couldn’t take it anymore. The next thing I did saved my whole day from demise. I took my right hand and tugged slowly at my headband. As it released inch by inch, I felt the relief I so longed for. I kept tugging until it was just about to come off, and TA-DA, I was cured. I took a huge sigh because the pain almost instantly faded away. Maybe I was being a bit of a hypochondriac, but call it what you want, I was hurting. Hehe

The Take Away…DON’T TIE YOUR SCARVES OR HEADBANDS TOO TIGHT OR YOU WILL GET A HEADACHE.

roflmfao... Great story. Almost as bad as wearing my durag too tight and walking around with a perfect line across my forehead for the first half of the day... Head Piece - FAIL. lol... Thanks for sharing!

Caoihme, I liked your use of imagery for us to vividly understand how your morning went from feeling great, to a pounding head, then back to feeling great by curing yourself :). Haha!

Girl this happened to be last week after leaving my silk scarf on a trip. I called myself making use of some old, stretched out head dressings by tying rubberbands around the extra to tigthen things up a bit. Let's just say I shouldn't have been surprised to wake up with a major migraine since 1 pinky couldn't even fit under this head trap I'd created. My hubby gives me the inevitable SMH while he helped me break the bands to receive the best piece of air my head had ever received. Too funny - what women go through for good hair...lol

Spriegro- that is hilarious! Believe it or not, it happens to a lot of people, including females. We just have the hair to cover our foreheads if need be.

Cdrizzle- thanks for the feedback man. Indeed I was cured, lol.

Jaiy- Now that is funny! I too have tried to make a head dressing by tying rubberbands, except, I ended up pulling some of my hair out when attempting to get relief. On second thought maybe I should have got someone to cut mine out too, lol, OH WELL! That was a while ago when I did that though. NO MORE RUBBERBANDS! Hehe

Caoihme and JaiyLove, It sounds like you two can collaborate and make a blog about hair, informing people on the to do's and the not to do's :).
