Goal Setting & Guacamole: My 5 Milestones Before 30

Although the twists and turns of life can often lead to unforeseen paths, it’s always good to have a few goals to gain stability with accompanying deadlines to track progress.  I’ll be 26 this year, UGH. So let’s make my target age 30.  Here are a few things I want to get done before then, and don’t forget to share yours!

Find My Favorite Starbucks
Don’t look at me like that.  This is serious.  Firstly, I blame my grandmother…God rest her soul.  When I was young, I used to make her coffee every morning and she’d encouraged me to take a sip.  This simple routine sparked my love affair with the java juice.

As I got older and began to branch out beyond Folgers, I met Starbucks.  Now, I blame them—for being so awesome. No, I’m not a semi-addict for the sake of the brand and not because I enjoy spending a few extra dollars on my caffeine fix. At the end of the day, it’s all about quality.

I’ve been coerced into trying 7-11 and Dunkin’ Donuts… I do have my favorite local coffee shops, but at the end of the day, Starbucks gets my vote. The extent of options and the mix of flavors can’t be beat.  Say what you will.

Since there are so many in DC, I’m on a mission to find my favorite location based on comfortability, accessibility, customer service, product consistency and special accommodations.

Hmmm… if only I could get Starbucks to sponsor this endeavor...

Start Another Business
“You a businessman… I’m a Business, MAN!” I say this aloud -  alone in a room by myself - everyday. Thanks, Jay.

But really, I’m infatuated with business – creating new ventures, assisting others, making a profit, and seeing hard work come to fruition are all attractive endeavors in my eyes.

I see life in terms of how I can make it better.  If something doesn’t exist, I want to create it.  If something is being done mediocre, I want to make it better.  If I have to create a business just so my community, friends and I can have the best, then so be it.  And what better way to build the economy, right?

Serial entrepreneur status, coming up.

Make a Movie
As a behind-the-scenes kind of girl, I have always found videography quite interesting.   I’ve done some slight work in recording and editing but I’d really like to delve into it more.  Aside from romantic comedies (hopeless romantic, here), documentaries are definitely my favorite genre of choice.

I’d love to create a short piece highlighting one of the millions of social issues that constantly plague my mind.

Write a Book
Autobiographical? Self-help? A combination of both? Perhaps.  I love to write—much more than I love speaking engagements.  Thus, I’d like to bring my voice to the masses in a book.

I’ve actually already written a number of random thoughts on paper, now I just have to form chapters and sequence.

Learn to Make the Perfect Guacamole
A much simpler but equally necessary goal, I must learn to make the perfect guacamole!  First, because I love cooking and eating Mexican food.  Second, because I can’t live without condiments – like, I must have at least three condiments with every meal. And the guac is a favorite.  I’m sure I could find a way to eat it with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

And instead of running to Chipotle for my sporadic cravings, I’d much rather be able to make it myself. And every guy loves a girl who can cook… or at least, make condiments.

Anyone have a recipe I can try?

This list is awesome! I am on a mission to make some real down home mac n' cheese so I can definitely understand the guacamole goal.
