Does Freedom come with Chains?

When I speak of freedom, I speak of it in a broad sense. Whether it be freedom in government, freedom of speech, or freedom to make our own decisions. Though we have this freedom, are we truly free?  Each of these freedoms come with a price.

It's clear that we have free will and we can make just about any decision that we want to make, however, the decisions we make come with a price, whether positive or negative. Also the choice to not make a decision has a price as well. Whether we make a decision for or against a certain subject, the responsibility of the choice we made rests squarely on our shoulders.

There are many things that shape our decision-making. Some things include spirituality, life experiences, counsel of others, peer pressure, fear, and etc. So what do you think? Is the freedom we experience worth all that it comes with?

The freedom that we experience IS NOT free, it does come with a price, and the more you know, the more you are accountable for. But at the end of the day, a price has been paid on our behalves so that when we make those not so great decisions, we can get a another opportunity and a "second chance" at making the right decision someday. With that said, I urge you to make your decisions and indecisions wisely.  No matter what things can turn around for your good but why screw up when you can get it right the first time? Given, screw ups will happen, do not live life on a crash course when you have the tools you need to guide you in the right direction at your disposal.

Great question Caoihme. I

Great question Caoihme. I believe chains occur when we can't move on and forgive ourselves after we make unwise or unpopular decisions. If you continue to get caught up over shoulda, coulda, wouldas, you end up hanging yourself with those chains.

I agree all decisions come with a price. Even decisions you believe benefit you in the present, may have an adverse affect on someone else in your life. Or the consequences of said decision may not expose itself until months or years later. The key is to accept all choices as learning grounds and never stop growing.

One of my favorite bible verses: Romans 8: 28 - "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
