The Art of Focusing When You Have Many Interests
And although being a cultured, well-rounded individual has its advantages, we must remember not to wear ourselves thin. In life, everyone has one specific purpose; we were created to fulfill a generational legacy that will transcend all of our mere interests and hobbies.
“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that one idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, that is the way great spiritual giants are produced.” - Swami Vivekananda
Take a moment to ponder how you would like to leave your mark in this world. Then, analyze the steps that you are currently taking to achieve them, as well as, the hindrances in your life that might stagnate your progress.
In the end, you may very well find that you can still pursue other interests, however, the key is ensuring that they are aligned with your ultimate destiny.
The feeling of knowing your purpose and fearlessly directing your attention to it is an indescribable bliss. Don’t be blinded by the allure of being multi-faceted, Skillologists.
Purpose yourselves.
