In honor of the New Year, I thought I'd kick things off with a few crisp nuggets; insights if you will. Here are 5 ways for young professionals to start the new year off with a bang, and achieve tremendous success in 2010:
- Congratulate Yourself
Everyone has a life story, one of beginnings, endings, struggles, and triumphs. Think about the moments in your past when you were in a less fortunate position than you are today; moments that shook your confidence or tested your faith. Of these challenging moments, think of the many you overcame. Truth is, at this point in your life, you've probably endured a lot.
And so today, remember where you've been and how far you've come. Congratulate yourself for all the moments in the past in which you've conquered self-doubt, fear or insecurity. In honoring your past, and reflecting on lessons learned, a clearer path awaits. Promise yourself, in this moment, to keep trending higher. In 2010, say it loud, say it proud: "I Deserve Success!"
- Strengthen Relationships
Without a doubt, the bond you share with family and friends is linked directly to personal happiness. Respect and foster mutually rewarding, strong connections in your life. Initiating a casual phone call with an old college friend, or inviting your parents out to lunch, for example, can have a profound impact on your karmic life balance. Go out of your way to show others your appreciation, so as not to regret moments passed. In 2010, bring happiness to others.
- Speed Up By Slowing Down
Balance your ambitious hustle with focused, steady precision. Whether climbing the corporate ladder, finishing school, creating a music album, planning a wedding, or writing a book, give that which you're most passionate about the focus it deserves. Delegate, place on hold, or eliminate other tasks that return little value.
Speed up by slowing down and give attention to one or two large goals at a time. Avoid burnout. In doing so, you're likely to make fewer mistakes, and produce a better result. In 2010, win the race with a steady pace.
- Ask For What You Want
If you're a sincere, hardworking, honest person, then it is within your right and responsibility to advance your goals in life by asking for what you want, without hesitation or equivocation.
Year of the Timid, 2010 is not. In settling for the status quo, or meandering in a state of timidity, you fail to honor the hard work and forward-moving progress ushered in by those before you.
Maintain a courageous aura by taking bold steps to advance your goals. Be prepared to work hard and offer value in return for receiving what you want. And remember, the success you seek to attain needn't be self-serving.
Asking for what you want, while giving value in return, is in fact an act of bold humble service. For undoubtedly, any worthy success achieved on your behalf is likely to benefit others around you, most notably your family and community. Persistence is key. In 2010, take action.
- Exercise Your Imagination
"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create." - Albert Einstein.
Keep firm in your mind the success you desire. Upon going to bed at night, and awakening in the morning, take a few minutes to visualize the outcome of your goals accomplished. What does your success look like? Hold this image firm. Pray upon it. Meditate upon it. Shower thanks upon it.
And give witness to the law of attraction - wherein your imagination and reality meet, crossing the finish line as one. In 2010, dream big.
Finally, take a look at the 7 Guiding Principles outlined in the Skillology Manifesto. The manifesto serves as a declaration of ideas; a framework, by which you are welcome to adopt and/or adapt, while pursuing your creative endeavors.
May you experience a blessed New Year. Much Success in 2010!
